Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with adults ages 18 and older. My practice commonly supports individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, and PTSD. My goal is to create a supportive space where treatment is personalized and collaborative.

  • Cogniva represents the idea of renewing cognition: reclaiming focus, calm, and vitality through compassionate, evidence-based, and integrative care. My approach combines modern psychiatry with thoughtful attention to lifestyle, emotional well-being, and restoring connection between mind and body.

  • Cogniva Psychiatry is not currently in-network with Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance plans. However, I can provide a superbill upon request, which you may submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. To make the process easier, I partner with Reimbursify, a service that helps patients file out-of-network claims quickly and easily—at no cost to you.

  • Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, HSA cards, and Zelle.

  • At this time, I offer telepsychiatric care for patients located in Oklahoma and Nebraska.

  • Telepsychiatric appointments are held online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform accessed via the patient portal. I currently see patients located in Oklahoma and Nebraska. At this time, I do not offer in-person visits.

  • Most patients can easily connect using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. A stable internet connection will ensure the best video quality, and using headphones with a built-in microphone can help reduce background noise. Sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform (IntakeQ). To maintain your privacy and confidentiality, please join the session from a private location (such as your home, office, or a parked car) rather than a public place like a coffee shop, restaurant, or store.

  • Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach to mental health that combines traditional evidence-based psychiatric care with complementary practices. It integrates medication management and therapy with attention to movement, nutrition, and lifestyle factors that influence overall well-being. My training in medicine provides a strong foundation in conventional psychiatric treatment, while my focus on holistic care allows me to address the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. This approach supports balance, resilience, and long-term mental wellness through personalized, comprehensive care.

  • Not at all. Integrative psychiatry is not anti-medication—it’s about finding the right balance. Medications play an important role in treatment, and when they’re needed, I use them thoughtfully and collaboratively. The integrative approach simply expands the toolkit, combining traditional psychiatric treatments with supportive strategies such as therapy, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes to promote comprehensive physical and mental health.

  • Integrative clinicians combine the best of modern medicine with safe, evidence-based natural approaches, including traditional medications, pharmaceutical-grade supplements, mindfulness, healthy nutrition, and movement. In contrast, alternative healers usually avoid using traditional medical treatments altogether.

  • Yes, I can support individuals who want to stop, reduce, or simplify their medications. If tapering isn’t advisable, I’ll explain why and discuss safer alternatives. My goal is to make any medication changes as safe and comfortable as possible, including minimizing withdrawal effects or side effects that can occur when reducing antidepressant medications.

  • The frequency of visits depends on the nature and severity of your symptoms. Most patients meet with me every two to four weeks during the first three to six months of treatment, then transition to follow-ups about every three months. I also have the flexibility to meet more often early on if it’s helpful or clinically indicated.

  • At this time, financing options aren’t available. As a small private practice, payment is requested in full at the time of your appointment. I understand this may require planning, and I truly appreciate your understanding and support of a patient-centered, independent practice model.

  • All visits are completely HIPAA-compliant, and your privacy is always protected. Your records are only shared if you give written permission, and if you prefer, I can keep notes and communication separate from electronic health records.

Because this is a private, self-pay practice, your information isn’t shared with insurance unless you choose to release it. The only exception is if you use insurance for your prescriptions—a diagnosis must be shared with the pharmacy or insurer for billing purposes.

By law, I’m also required to share information in certain rare situations, like medical emergencies, suspected abuse, immediate safety concerns, worker’s compensation cases, or when ordered by a court.
